The members of the Maritime Archaeological Association of New Zealand are people who are either working, studying, or have an interest in the field of maritime archaeology or similar. Also those with a strong interest in our coastline have found membership rewarding. Many members of the association are also interested in the areas of coastal defense, marine biology, archaeology and history. Many of the members are divers, some are experienced in wreck diving, while others are moving toward this interesting and exciting field.

Members receive a quarterly newsletter and can attend many activities as well as regular meetings. MAANZ has members located throughout New Zealand, though its committee meets in Wellington. With New Zealand's rich maritime heritage and history there is every reason why MAANZ should be represented in all main coastal centers and smaller coastal towns with maritime links.

Meetings:
Usually in association with the Maritime Friends of the Museum of Wellington City & Sea. Subjects are wide ranging from maritime archaeology to wartime exploits to Wellington maritime projects. MAANZ endeavors to organise four lectures on maritime archaeology each year on dates that are advised separately.

Annual membership fee: NZ$25.00

Application to join the Maritime Association of New Zealand is fairly straight forward, you can join either over the Internet, or by printing out the application form and posting it in.
